Fred the Pen (Fred Marber) is an illustrator, graphic designer and writer based in London. His earlier work dealt with the afterlife and grief, including Heaven's Attorney (2023), a short ink graphic novel about what follows death, and Death and Stuff, a book developed from conversations with an end-of-life doula. More recently his stories turn to the surreal and the mundane in everyday life. As a designer he works in analogue techniques, and his credits include flyers for the Art Club Collective's first birthday party, posters for the events series Blank Generation, and illustration work for Gotobeat. He studied BA Illustration and Visual Media at London College of Communication, where his student team's art therapy campaign for the NHS's 75th anniversary went live in December 2023.
